Just recently Wendy’s has advertised the new natural-cut French fries with Sea Salt. Now I haven’t actually tried the fries but a lot of people seem to enjoy them and there were many reasons why. One reason is that some people prefer the skins on their fries much better than just regular. Many customers seem to say it has a better taste and flavor and many restaurants especially fast food restaurants like Wendy’s, burger king or McDonalds’ do not sell them. Another hit seems to be the sea salt the fries are sprinkled with. The fries are revamped fries with 100% russet potatoes cut with the skin and sprinkled with sea salt but why the Sea Salt? According to one article, people associate the salt with good, natural things. They also link it to flavor, “The typically bigger salt granules can add more flavor with less salt”.
The new fries are tastier and better according to most customers but the downfall is they contain a lot more sodium and calories. : 270 milligrams per small order, up from 180. The large has 630, up from 460. "If Wendy's customers care," Nestle says, "they will have even more trouble reducing their sodium intake." However many argue that the key point is not the calories it is that they taste better! The fires are said to be all natural and are cooked with o trans fat but are still containing more sodium and calories.I’m not sure if this product will be successful or not. Since we are recently concerned about how obesity is such a problem in the Unites States than why would we promote a new product that is unhealthier for us? Are you we just trying to repeat to what brought us to this obesity problem which is not caring about how unhealthy it is but just about how good it taste? Wendy’s is the nation’s number 3 fast food chain and has renewed its French fry recipe for the first time in 41 years. I guess I wonder why the change? Can these fries really bring in much more revenue? Also something to think about is if you liked Wendy’s fries before you cannot order them again. Wendy’s only sells there new natural cut fries. This could be saving the company a lot of money. These French fries could be cheaper to make because the skin is still on the fries. They do not have to go through the longer old process. What do you think about the new fries? Will they be successful or not? Why the change of having unhealthier fries? Will this be bad for Wendy’s look?
